Shoes for children in Namuwongo Slum. Walking barefoot is a major cause of diseases.

With your help, we aim to purchase 400 pairs of shoes to be distributed to children in Namuwongo Slum.

Walking barefoot is a major cause of diseases. Children often have to walk long distances to school or to accomplish their normal duties. Walking barefoot, especially in areas that lack hygiene, can have severe consequences.

Bacteria can enter through the skin and hookworms can easily access the child’s body through open wounds caused by little injuries. Such injuries, if not treated, can additionally cause infections that may end deadly.

An easy solution to that problem is shoes; however, impoverished families often lack money to provide sufficient clothing for their children. Support the health of children in the Namuwongo slum by providing them with shoes.

Building Julena School

The current school caters to approximately 180 children in a poor, rural area nearby Gweru. Some children are walking up to 15km to reach the school, many don’t even have shoes. One new building has been built, however they cannot accommodate all children so the old derelic building is still being used. The construction of a second building is on hold due to a lack of funding. A third is still required. They need your help - can you step up?

The construction of the second building is on hold due to a lack of funding. A third is still required to accommodate all of the children comfortably.

There is not enough furniture for all children and many kids have to sit on the floor. In winter they make fires to keep warm.

How can you support? We are aiming to raise enough money to purchase furniture for the school and shoes for the children. If we manage to beat our target, the rest will go towards construction of the new building. Can you step up and help?
